Children’s Immunizations             

 

The Health Department holds an Immunization Clinic every Tuesday from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 and 3:30 pm .  No appointment is necessary.  A donation of $2.00 is accepted, HOWEVER, no one will be denied services for failure to make a donation.  High school students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.  A parent/guardian must provide a note if someone is bringing the child into the clinic other than a parent or guardian.  All new patients to our clinic MUST bring proof of previous vaccinations. 

Minimum Immunization Requirements for School Entry
2010 - 2011

Dtap or DTP or Dt or Td

5 doses (grade K-12)

Polio (IPV or OPV)

4 doses (grade K-12)

MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)

2 doses (grade K-12)

Varicella

2 doses (grade K and grades 6-12)

Hepatitis B

3 doses (grade K-12 

Tdap 1 dose (grade 6-12)
MCV4 (meningococcal) 1 dose (grade 6-12)

Get them In On Time through the 1st Year. 

 

 

 

 

Gardasil (HPV vaccine) and Hepatitis A are also recommended, ask your health care provider for details.

CDC recommends getting a flu shot through January.  The peak flu season is late January through late March, with mid October through mid December being the optimal time to receive the vaccine.  Please call the Health Department for availability of vaccine and cost.  812-883-2349 or 812-883-5603. 

Travel Clinic           

The Health Department provides immunizations to those persons traveling outside the United States .  Shots are given by appointment only.  Vaccines available are Tetanus, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A/B (Twinrix), Typhoid, Polio, MMR, Meningococcal, and Yellow Fever*.  Please call the Public Health Nurse at 812-883-2349 or 812-883-5603, Extension 2002 to schedule an appointment for shots.  We accept cash, credit (No Visa) or debit (Visa/Mastercard) card ($2.50 use fee) for payment.  NO PERSONAL CHECKS.

 *The Washington County Health Department is a certified yellow fever clinic.

          Tuberculosis Testing 

The Health Department provides testing, surveillance, education and if needed medication for TB.  The Mantoux TB skin test is offered during regular clinic hours (Tuesday 8:00 – 11:30 am and 1:00 and 3:30 pm).  The cost is $5.00 

Head Lice Program

          Pediculosis is human head lice.  The Health Department provides a non-toxic shampoo that is safe for everyone.  A $10.00 donation is requested but NO ONE will be denied treatment.  For more information on head lice (pediculosis) CLICK HERE. 

Communicable Diseases 

The Health Department is responsible for reporting and following up all state defined reportable diseases.  Education of the patient, family, schools and community is available.
